About Trish I was initiated
into Reiki in 2000, after learning of this beautiful and gentle healing
system from a holistic veterinarian. I became a Reiki Master Practitioner in
2001, and a Master-Teacher in 2004. My Reiki lineage is eclectic, containing
elements of non-traditional Usui Raeiki, traditional Usui Reiki Ryoho, and
Usui Tibetan Reiki. I was drawn to learn Reiki to help keep my four-legged
family healthy, but as time went on I began to share it with my two-legged
friends as well.
In March, 2008, I realized a long-time
dream of studying with internationally renowned Reiki masters and Reiki
researchers Frans and Bronwen Stiene of
the International House of Reiki in Australia. It was a transformative
experience that has helped to deepen my practice of Reiki. I have adapted my
Reiki classes to reflect the beautiful simplicity of the classical Japanese
system of Reiki.
I have had a
personal yoga and meditation practice for 18 years. I became a certified yoga instructor in 2003.
During the year of my yoga teacher training, on 1 February 2003, I sat up in
bed and ruptured my L5-S1 disk. I reinjured it during a blizzard in March
of that year, and in April, I had surgery to clean the disk material away
from the nerve to alleviate chronic debilitating pain and partial paralysis in
my right leg. The surgery performed as hoped, and I awoke from surgery
pain-free, although numbness in my leg and foot persisted. I used yoga and
Reiki to
rehabilitate my back, and within three years I had made remarkable improvement,
although I often suffered from back spasms.
In 2006, I discovered the practice of Yin yoga, as taught by Paul Grilley.
Within three weeks of integrating the Yin poses into my daily practice, the
back spasms had disappeared and I had regained confidence in the strength
and flexibility of my back.
Experience has convinced me of
the healing power of energy medicine, especially in the forms of yoga and
Reiki. But don't take my word for it. Try it for yourself.
Peace to you on your healing
journey.
